While this post is coming a week well after the new year, I had to take some time to really set some resolutions for myself that were attainable. The last thing I want to do with a fresh start is overwhelm myself or set myself up for something I know I can't/won't accomplish. Here we go!
1.) Take more pictures
Michael and I have quite a fun little camera collection and we honestly barely use any of them. Aside taking photos for posts and Instagram, I really want to start utilizing my film cameras. I love the idea of having a photo I can hold in my hand, or store away in a cute album. A while ago I did An Ode To Film Photography, and upon rediscovering that post, I remembered how much I loved it. Aside from using my cameras, I'm going to start using my Instagram more professionally and blog related, and will be striving to post a photo daily.
2.) Read (more) books
While I read through novels like it's my job, I really want to start reading books that inspire my passions and learn about things I can incorporate into my everyday life. I'm going to start with these 3 I received for Christmas! Tori got me Kate Spade's "Everything We Love" book which is a collection of all things their brand is inspired by. My mom bought me the middle book, which is about mindfulness and teaches you a bunch of easy meditations to live a more blissful life. Being a sufferer of extreme anxiety, I am going to make it a point this year to use my mind in my favor and teach myself some in the moment mediations. The last book is from Michael's mom, a book of photos taken by Drew Barrymore of things in everyday life where she finds hearts. I've already started looking through and some of the places where hearts appeared are just incredible. So, reading more books is a must for me!
3.) Blog more consistently and remember that I can wear my sunnies in the colder months, too
It sounds funny, but I always associate sunglasses with the summer time. I forget that I can rock my favorites in the winter too, so I want to start incorporating them into my outfits more often.
As you all might have seen in Annalise's post from yesterday, it is with sadness and the most respect that I'm saying farewell to her as my blogging partner. I am so lucky to have started this blog with one of my best friends, and I will miss sharing this with her more than I can say. I have learned so much from Annalise during our year of running Black in Bloom together, and I am so thankful for that. There is no denying that I will still ask her for help and input with this, but I will carrying on this style blog on my own. I have very big plans for BIB that I'm so excited about. I really have fallen in love with style blogging, and I don't think I will ever turn back. Thank you to all of you Bloomers who drive me to keep sharing my style and inspirations, I wouldn't be anywhere without you. I hope you will all stick with me while I hit the ground running with Black in Bloom this year. Big things are coming. Stay tuned.
What are your resolutions?
<3 Amy
