An Antique Christmas
posted on: Wednesday, January 1, 2014
I'm really into decorating my apartment and I'm always on the look out for new trinkets and antiques to display. These things are a collection of things I've found, but mostly gifts!
In the top photo, I have a camera photo album that Michael brought me back from Nashville when he was on tour with his band. We filled it with our favorite shots from our Holga, and I love picking it up to relive what's inside. The purple bottle is just a little thing I found in a thrift shop thats I thought was super cute! Next to that is one of my favorite things I've ever found while antiquing, an old lock to something at Yale University. Growing up 30 minutes from New Haven, I've always ventured there for shows, shopping, or just to visit friends. I've also worked on the Yale campus at Urban Outfitters for almost 2 years now, so it's kind of like my second home. So, I thought it was really cool to find such a unique piece! The piece next to it was a gift I received this Christmas from Michael's mom. It's probably the most beautiful thing anyone has ever given me. She took a mason jar (which is already adorable) and filled it up with antique jewelry that was her grandmas! I've emptied it out and looked through it some and I have to say, all of the things in there are absolutely stunning. I'm a sucker for really special things like this, and it makes a perfect little table piece!
The little box below was given to Mike by Annalise and her boyfriend Danny for Christmas. It's such a pretty little thing and all of the tiny detailing in the etching is amazing. He has yet to decide what to store in here, if anything, but it sure does look pretty freakin' cool regardless!
Do any of you guys enjoy antiquing/thrifting?! What's your favorite thing you've ever found? Leave me a comment, I love hearing about these things!
