LIPSTICK REVIEW III : FILM NOIR

posted on: Sunday, December 21, 2014

I recently have been on the hunt for a flat (not shiny) deep brown lipstick. M.A.C's "Film Noir" gave me nothing short of that! Here's what the color looks like on my lips.

A DIFFERENT GRAPE: LIPSTICK OBSESSION II

posted on: Wednesday, June 11, 2014

This is one of my lipsticks that I've had for awhile. I have so many newer colors that I get excited about that I often forget about my first lipstick loves, so to speak! This one is called A Different Grape, by Clinique.

Pros:
  • It's moisturizing. That's sometimes a rare thing to come by in lip color, which is a reason why its one of my favorites.
  • Deep color. A lot of lipsticks are so deceiving when you look at the color of the actual stick or the sample color on paper. Some come out a different color, some are very sheer. This color is so rich and with one application I have the bold color I want.
  • Long Lasting. I can go all day only reapplying after eating or about 2 times throughout my wear.
Cons:
  • Feathering. No matter what, I can't get this color to stay in the lines! You can see in the close up photo that it feathers a bit, and thats even with using my invisible anti-feathering pen. This means thats when I do go to reapply or just check on my make-up, I have to do a little bit of cleaning up around the edges

If any of you have a favorite lip color, I would love for you to leave a comment below! I'm always looking to try new brands and types.

LIPSTICK OBSESSION : 1

posted on: Wednesday, April 30, 2014

Hey Bloomers! I've missed you guys. Finals are nearing for me and they're really kicking my butt this semester, so my sincere apologies that it's been a few days since I've posted!

Anyways, we're starting a new series here on BIB called Lipstick Obsession. It's obvious that Annalise and I are all about lip color, and we want to give you guys a more detailed look into our favorite ones!

This one I'm wearing here is my current favorite. While in the colder seasons I love going for a darker, bolder look, during the spring I really love lighter shades. I'm all about vibrant bright color, but this one I love for it's mute mauve tint. It's a bit more subtle than most of my colors, but I'm in love. I feel like it really compliments my light skin tone and eyes!

So, this color is by CoverGirl and it's number 320, called Soulmate. This particular line of lipstick is one of my favorites by CoverGirl because it goes on smooth and you can add on layers for a bolder less sheer look. You can literally get this at any drug store and I recommend it to long time lipstick lovers, or anyone who wants to try something new!

Happy hump day!

STRIPES AND SPIKES

posted on: Saturday, February 8, 2014

I'm officially over this snow and winter weather. I just want to walk outside in a dress without tights or a coat and feel warm! For now, though, the layering continues. Today I mixed cheetah print and stripes, a combo I'm crazy about. It's interesting but not too over the top. Instead of doing denim (because when do I ever) I chose to do a simply skater skirt and my faux thigh high socks that never fail me. Oh, and the spikes on the shoulder of this cardigan are just bad-ass.

Outfit Details:

Striped top - UO by Nom De Plume (similar)
Cardigan - UO by Reverse (similar)
Skater Skirt - UO by Pins and Needles (same)
Tights - UO (same)
Booties - Nine West (similar)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, and don't forget to check out our first ever "Feature Friday" post from yesterday!
