RUSTIC COLORS

posted on: Sunday, May 4, 2014

Hey Bloomers! This Saturday was my definition of perfect spring weather. I'm loving the forsythia at my house. The bright yellow makes such an appearance letting me know it's really spring!

I was so excited to finally do some light layering with this shawl cardigan. My aunt gave me this lovely orange overcoat. I love how a rustic orange looks against turquoise so I had to wear my necklace and bracelet. I've also been really dedicated to my black fringe bag lately, but I left it at Danny's house so it forced me to choose another purse from my collection. I love this double button cross-body purse that Danny bought me. I knotted the top so that I could hang it on one shoulder for the day.

I hope your weekend is going well! I can't wait for all of my finals to be over soon/for graduation so that I can bring you more outfit posts (sorry it's been so long)! Have a great Sunday :)

CAMO X CHEVRON

posted on: Tuesday, April 15, 2014

We all have those days where our hair just doesn't fall the way we want. Days like that make me thankful for beanies! I felt pretty casual but still like I was letting my style shine through. I've had this little dress for a while now and it's perfect for just a lazy day of hanging out downtown with friends. I'm also a little obsessed with these round sunnies I found at Nordstroms (thanks Aunt Rose and Aunt Laura!)

I also wanted to thank this babe for snapping these outfit photos of me. I couldn't help but to take a few pics of her. I love her black and blue theme, and her cute little floral sneakers are just perfect.

Thanks Sar :)

FEATURE FRIDAY // SARAH

posted on: Friday, April 11, 2014

This weeks Feature Friday is Sarah! I (Amy) have been best friends with this girl for close to 20 years. Having a job with a strict dress policy, she has to make sure that her days off count by wearing what truly represents her. We love that she kept her outfit very simple while still adding interest with prints and textiles like her cotton floral shorts and leather jacket. Her heart shaped sunnies and vibrant lips make us fall more in love with her! During the spring time, it's fun to add extra accessories and accents to make your look more playful. Follow her here!

Bloomers, meet Brian. We're stoked to have him this week because he represents so many things we love! His simple yet classic look will never go out of style! Aside from dressing like a total babe, he's a musician and lover of all things coffee, and most definitely enjoys almond butter more than anything we have ever and will ever meet (seriously). Follow him here and here for awesome tattoo and, well, coffee photos!

CROWN OF GOLD, HEART OF DAISIES

posted on: Tuesday, April 1, 2014

You'd never know it snowed two days ago in CT with the looks of how beautiful the weather was the day after. Amy took these shots of me yesterday and it was gorgeous out--sunny and 60 degrees! It got me really excited to do an outfit post. I don't know what's with me and this gold/mustard color lately, but I've really been into it.

I think the favorite part about my outfit is my hair! I've been wanting to do a crown braid, but was unsure how to. I texted my cousin, Sassy (because she is great with hair among other things!), and she sent me this amazing tutorial video on how to dutch braid my hair into the crown style. I'll definitely be doing this more often :)

Hope the weather is spring-y by you!

PASTEL GARDENS

posted on: Friday, March 28, 2014

It's finally Friday! Although Amy and I typically bring you a Feature Friday, we wanted to focus on building our Modcloth storyboard this week, so we will bring you a lovely featured post next friday :) I bring to you a simple outfit that I wore the other day while it was still pretty chilly out. I wanted the focus to be on the pastel, soft garden flowers and pieced my gold compass necklace and mustard yellow sweater with it to accent the colors. I layered my light brown sweater over this look to tone down the loud gold tones, but still let them shine. I also got to witness my first signs of spring in New Haven with these budding beauties!

I hope you all have a great day, and are looking forward to the weekend!

DAINTY WOLF

Hello Bloomers! I just got back from a weekend in Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA with some amazing friends. I'll post some pictures I snapped while I was there, but first I want to share outfit pics Amy took of me before I left.

It was about 60 degrees out and gorgeous. I wanted to add some girly accents like my lace kimono and ruffle socks. This tee is one of my favorites because not only was it $2 at Savers (Danny picked it up and let me have it!), but it also fits like a tunic. With cold weather on the way again, it was nice to spend some time outside. Have a wonderful Monday!

Outfit Details:

Shirt- thrifted (thanks Danny!)
Kimono- Band of Gypsies (here)
Leggings- Forever 21(similar)
Socks- Top Shop (similar)

FLORAL COMBAT

posted on: Saturday, March 22, 2014

As warmer weather rolls in, I'm definitely bringing pops of pinks and brighter colors into my looks! I found this 90's style floral button up and I couldn't pass it up. It's actually a mens shirt, but that never stopped me before! Instead of styling it buttoned, I chose to wear it as a layering piece with my favorite gauze dress, and I loved it! Balancing girly shapes and colors with harder accents like my necklace and combat boots is what makes me feel like I'm expressing myself the best.

What's one aspect that you guys always bring into your outfits?!
