BRAINSTORMS FOR RAINSTORMS

posted on: Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Rain, rain, go away - We're in need of rain here in CT, but it bums us out a bit since that means less outfit photos. So today we headed to a local coffee shop to brainstorm for the upcoming weeks on BIB. We haven't gotten to take some time together and hang out in a while. It's hard living on almost opposite sides of the state, but to be honest we couldn't imagine not doing this together! Distance really doesn't matter, and at the end of the day we are so happy to have all you Bloomers feeling motivated and inspired because that's the reason why we are in this! We love spending time together being creative.

So get ready for some killer posts for the end of summer into fall fest season!

Some sneak peeks you can expect are:

We'd love to know what you Bloomers want to see! You guys are what make this all worth it. Please feel free to leave comments below about what you're interested in.

Have a great week!

MY HEART IS A BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAIN

posted on: Saturday, June 7, 2014

Sometimes I feel like my heart resides in many places, and like home isn't just one house. I have family scattered throughout New England and am grateful that they let me stay with them whenever. When Rachel and I headed to Stowe, VT this past week I know I would have a great time. We stayed at my aunt and uncle's house. Whenever I return there I feel like a part of me ignites. I guess you can say whenever I frequent the places I've grown up, I feel like sense of myself coming back to me. I definitely couldn't help taking a few outfit pictures in my aunt's beautiful yard. It was so bright and sunny that day! I wanted to keep it simple with my logger boots and long, farm skirt, but adding the bandage top and necklace helped me to feel a little "dressed up".

I hope everyone's weekend has been well spent and that you're all finding the positive in the simple beauty of the days!

MINIMALIST

posted on: Saturday, April 19, 2014

Happy Saturday, Bloomers! Today is finally warm, and I hope the weather is nice by all of you! I am so over this bitter cold weather so the other day when Amy and I headed out for some outfit pictures all I wanted to do was keep it casual. I felt like a minimalist with all black, simple silhouettes, my favorite Vans, messy hair, and no makeup. Sometimes we need those plain-jane sort of days! I hope you all are enjoying the holiday weekend :)

Crop top- Forever 21
Sweater- Marshalls
Jeans- Urban Outfitters
Shoes- Vans

UNIQUELY YOU CAMPAIGN // MODCLOTH + WANELO

posted on: Tuesday, March 25, 2014

Hi Bloomers! We were so incredibly excited to receive an E-mail from Modstylist, Amy, of Modcloth last week asking us to participate in their Uniquely You Campaign. How could we say no?! We were given one feature item, which is the Beach Blanket Bingo One Piece in Red, and then we were to choose up to 7 other items to complete the look. Here's our story!

As soon as we saw our item, we immediately were daydreaming about reading a book on the beach. What's more appropriate then reading a book on new fashion illustration? We paired this adorable swimsuit with two layering pieces to let this book lover head over to her favorite coffee spot to meet up with friends. The vintage denim vest and striped sandal wedges give this retro, vibrant suit an edgier flare while the light lace skirt keeps the outfit feminine (not to mention that A-line skirts compliment every girl beautifully!). The best thing about halter one pieces is that they can be worn under shorts or a skirt and look just like an adorable sweetheart top! We couldn't resist the retro cat-eye sunglasses and fun, playful feel of the Betsy Johnson ice cream wristlet!

Modcloth has a wonderful variety of swimwear that every girl can adore. There are so many different silhouettes and patterns making us excited for summertime at the shore! Stop by their site to find your perfect swimsuit!

Check out our Wanelo story board as well!

Thanks again, Modcloth!

FEATURE FRIDAY // ANGELA

posted on: Friday, March 7, 2014

This week we bring to you our sunflower power beauty friend, Angela!

We wanted to feature Angela because her style compliments her personality. Being a more laid-back shy girly, her vibrant sense of fashion radiates who she truly is. We are really into her sunflower tunic dress and lace knee high socks. Even though it's still frigid here in CT, Ang had us feeling some excitement for spring. Her mixed metal jewelry adds the perfect accent, especially that turquoise (so pretty!). We love following Ang for dog pics and all things quirky!

WISHING FOR SPRING

posted on: Tuesday, February 18, 2014

This February has been full of snow, freezing temps, and an abundance of salt and sand. I've been trying to make the best of it by wearing my favorite florals and casual booties (not to mention a pop of lip color always makes me feel better!). On days where everything feels gray, I love wearing a little extra jewelry to brighten things up. These two bracelets are my favorite, and I love my thrifted vintage watch necklace! I hope you all are enjoying what's left to come of this winter and are looking forward to the spring as much as I am.

DIY WINTER MEMORIES

posted on: Tuesday, January 21, 2014

It's officially really snowy today in New England, and I'm in love with it. Having a snow day means trying to find great ways to entertain myself while trapped in doors. Although it's easy to hang and watch movies all day, sometimes I feel like being productive and creative! For anyone looking for a way to be creative and keep busy, I suggest you make your own memory/keepsake box! I LOVE having this box because I can store old photos, cards, and random items from places I've been. The box I used was from a Christmas gift. I bought some white crackle paint, and used other household items to assemble this. Some great around the house items you can use are:

-Old Books
-Wire
-Scrap Paper
-Old cloth towels
-Ribbons
-Clothespins
-Buttons
-Dried Flowers

The best part is you can make this unique to your taste! I love anything vintage and antique-y, so I designed my box around that style. Hope this helps inspire you on your snow day!

ZACH // Men's Update

posted on: Monday, January 13, 2014

While hanging with my friend Zach, I decided to get a few pictures of him to bring you guys some more men's posts! The simplicity, yet clean fit of Zach's outfit speaks for itself. Sometimes the best dude outfits don't have to be overly thought out or "out there". I think his boots and watch are the small, simple details that make this his own. If you want to check out more of Zach and his awesome posts click here. He also has some pretty cool pictures and music reviews that I love checking out! He's one of the best dudes I know.

PAISLEY SUNDAY

posted on: Sunday, January 12, 2014

It was another fairly warm day here in CT so I decided to take the opportunity to get outside before the freezing weather comes back! I headed over to Kent Falls with Danny and our friend Zach, which wound up being really awesome. The semi-warm weather let me get away with not wearing a coat and instead replace it with a denim vest. I love that vests offer a blank canvas to add your own personality. This vest I actually sewed the floral fabric on and the patch! You can go to different etsy shops and find some awesome patches or even cut out graphics from your favorite vintage tee. I also added some pins alongside my vintage cameo because I love them so much. Overall, I liked the casual yet girly/grunge flare of my outfit. Happy Sunday everyone!

Outfit Details:

Dress- UO in Ireland
Vest- Forever 21, Deafheaven patch, vintage cameo pin
Sweater- Forever 21
Socks- Topshop
Shoes- Deena and Ozzy UO
