NEW YEAR, NEW START - FAREWELL

posted on: Monday, January 5, 2015

These past two years I have loved bringing all of you Bloomers the different ways I'm inspired daily. I'm even more grateful to have shared these experiences alongside one of my best friends. Amy has always been an amazing friend and co-blogger. She always motivates me to look for the small moments in my day to bring to the blog so that I can share what I find valuable and creative to all of you. Also, this experience would have never been the same if it wasn't for all of our supporters and readers. You have all motivated me to continually share my creativity and passion even though I will no longer be a part of the blog.

FALL INSPO: LEATHER + KNITS

posted on: Tuesday, August 12, 2014

I'm sure you're all feeling the fall fever as much as I am. Around this time of year, I always find myself wishing away the heat and longing for chilly days wrapped in cozy sweaters, spent pumpkin picking, or at my favorite fairs. Autumn style is something I love because it lets me mix my love for leather and all things soft. These pieces are things I hope to make staples in my fall wardrobe.

1.) Silence and Noise Marled Open-Stitch Sweater - Not only am I in love with the colors this comes in, but I'm a sucker for open stitch. Whether I'd want to layer this over a dress or a patterned button up clean finished with a collar, it's super versatile.

2.) Jakimac Single Chain Draped Leather Harness - I have never owned a harness before, but when I  found Jakimac, I fell in love with their pieces and the way they style them. I'd love to edge up a cute sweater dress with this! Follow them on instagram to see their styling and get inspired!

3.) Free People Side by Side Pullover - How cozy does this look?! Paired with some ripped denim and killer boots, this could effortlessly turn into a go-to look.

4.) Free People Top of The World Thigh Hi - Ribbed thigh high socks are a must for me in the fall months. I love them peeking out of a midi boot, or letting them shine with a pair of oxfords or ankle boots.

5.) Cooperative Oliver Structured Backpack - I always switch up my backpacks with the seasons. The fall semester is near and I need something thats cute but functional. I love this clean and classic look. The navy and leather straps are what drew me to this beauty!

6.) Modern Vice "Rita" Boot - I'm still in awe of how perfect these are. I definitely see myself pairing these with tights and a softer more feminine dress and chunky cardigan.

FLORAL FASHIONS & PRAIRIE SILHOUETTES

posted on: Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Hey Bloomers! This time of year I can't help but cherish and appreciate my mom's gardens. Pulling up to my parents' house and seeing all the colors and mature growth I'm immediately inspired with creativity to paint, cook, decorate, and look at the pieces in my closet a bit differently. I wanted to share with you guys how taking the time to appreciate the simple things can inspire us more than we think. My mom and I make arrangements all around the house to bring that creativity indoors.

I can't help but look at these arrangements and think of fashion. Here are pictures of my mom's arrangements as inspiration for some of my favorite dresses!

Bonita Dress by For Love & Lemons

I guess you can say I have an obsession with prairie lace and soft embroideries. When I see an arrangement of flowers I can't help but think of old time fabrics and silhouettes. Are any of you inspired by your gardens? I'd love to know what gets you feeling creative!

Have a lovely Tuesay!

CUBAN COFFEE QUEEN

posted on: Friday, May 23, 2014

We biked back to our house so I could show you more details of this dress because it's my new favorite! Plus, this back yard is like its own tropical paradise, and I never want to leave.

Between relaxing by the pool and bike riding around this small island, there is always time for coffee. My dad, Danny, and I headed out for a walk to the marina to go to a small coffee stand called Cuban Coffee Queen. I'm always in the mood for a good iced coffee, especially when it's so hot out! My favorite thing about this coffee: coffee ice cubes. I have to start making some myself! On a different note, I was so happy to rock a crown braid and no makeup again, and I LOVE my Free People dress because it's so pretty that it stands as a statement piece. I'm going to apologize ahead of time for posting this dress more than once this summer; I just can't help it!

SPRING IN THE SUN

posted on: Saturday, March 22, 2014

I recently purchased a neutral density filter for my Canon so that I can take some day time shots of Danny fly fishing. When it came in the mail I was overjoyed to go and try it out. Danny and I headed to Indian Ledge park in my town to take some pictures. I'm glad we went because we wound up sitting down on the wooden bridge and enjoying the warm sun. It's still so cold in CT, but when you find a quiet moment in the sun it feels like spring. I snapped this picture of the river from the bridge we were sitting on. I'm excited for moments like this to come as the days get longer and warmer.

While we were there I had Danny snap a few pictures of my outfit. I felt pretty casual, but that my style personality was shining through. I love anything lace, denim, and southwestern print. Also, I will forever love my mallard bolo!

I hope you all have a great weekend :)

FEATURE FRIDAY // ANGELA

posted on: Friday, March 7, 2014

This week we bring to you our sunflower power beauty friend, Angela!

We wanted to feature Angela because her style compliments her personality. Being a more laid-back shy girly, her vibrant sense of fashion radiates who she truly is. We are really into her sunflower tunic dress and lace knee high socks. Even though it's still frigid here in CT, Ang had us feeling some excitement for spring. Her mixed metal jewelry adds the perfect accent, especially that turquoise (so pretty!). We love following Ang for dog pics and all things quirky!

SPRING THINGS

posted on: Tuesday, March 4, 2014

Well Bloomers I can honestly say I've been dreaming of spring for well over a week now. Although warm sunshine seems far, it's really around the corner and it's good to start thinking about spring style! I put together a small assortment of items I LOVE and can't wait to wear! Hopefully you all can find some inspiration.

1. Panama hats- I've always been one for hats, and panama hats have me pumped for warm days and messy hair. Pair it with a tunic and jeans, or pretty sun dress/maxi dress for a girly feel. Pictured: Wool Women's Panama Hat by Tilly's

2. Lace (and more lace!)- Being a fan of anything vintage, lace dresses, tunics, and kimonos have me swooning. Take a bohemian lace piece and pair it with something black or leather for an edgier vibe. Pictured: One Golden Age top by Free People

3. Printed Maxi Skirts- Maxi skirts have been a style that lives strong for the warmer months, but this spring I'm excited to take them to a new level. Printed maxis, like this daisy one, are comfortable yet show stopping. pair this with a crop top or bustier and a strappy vintage boot. Not to mention some awesome rings! Pictured: Flower Child M-slit Maxi Skirt by Forever 21

4. Detailed Accessories- This handmade leather pouch is a perfect accessory to carry with you all through the warmer months. A raw, harsh textile against some feminine flare can complete any look. This pouch here I'm crazy about because it was hand sewn in Haiti by Fait La Force. This product is being featured on a website that is most definitely worth taking the time to check out. This girl, Bekah, is doing something really awesome! Pictured: Raw Edge Pouch by A Well Traveled Brand

5. Bustier Tops- These tops never grow old because I love all the different ways to pair them! Whether it's with a maxi skirt, high waisted shorts, skater skirt or high waisted denim, this top becomes a very versatile piece of spring! Pictured: Banded Strapless Top by Sparkle & Fade for Urban Outfitters

6. Floral Dresses- This is a staple to my spring wardrobe, and although I have many floral dresses, I still feel like you can never have enough! How cute are they paired with a kimono or fringe vest? Or you can even leave them plain and simple and they're great! Pictured: Lace-Up Babydoll Tank Dress by Band of Gypsies

7. Oversized Rings- These rings are acceptable every time of year, but these vibrant turquoise stones accent the colors of spring. This can be worn and loved with any outfit! Pictured: This Triple Turquoise Ring is crafted by St. Eve Jewelry

8. Cut-Out Ankle Boots- Sandals will always be a spring and summer favorite, but why not spice up your footwear with something more funky? Cut-out, strappy ankle boots are such an awesome way to change the dynamic of an outfit. They can be worn with long, flowy silhouettes, or something more sculpted and geometric! 9. Fringe Vests- Bringing back the 70's in a fun, bohemian way! This vest is statement piece and can be easily turned too far back in time, so it's nice to spice it up in a modern way. Wear this with a dark lip and some wedged buckle sandals for a current bohemian look. There's so many ways to work this vest, make it true to you! I hope you all found a bit of inspiration and excitement for spring! It's coming soon, so enjoy putting together some outfit ideas. You'll look killer for that first warm day ;)

PRINTS ON PRINTS

posted on: Thursday, February 27, 2014

So much for all that warmer weather because it's back to being single digits here in CT. Amy made a cute post yesterday about how we spent some time in downtown Seymour at Tea with Tracy! We took our pictures beforehand and didn't last outside too long because of how chilly it was, but warming up with a nice cup of tea was the perfect fix. It was really overcast and I wanted nothing more than to wear one of my favorite Free People tops and daisy dress with my camp socks.  I love playing with different prints and mixing them together! I also adore these Vera Wang boots I scored while thrifting a few years back!

It's almost the end of the week (yay!), and I hope all you Bloomers are excited for Friday as much as I am!

Paired with a body con skirt, knit baby doll top, and layered with a black cardigan,  I felt season appropriate and put together.
